Planning for 2015 Home Decor Already?

0
December 7, 2014 - Decor, Remodeling/Home Improvement

Many of us work long days and can’t always get away for vacation so our homes need to an inspiring and relaxing space that you can enjoy by getting away from the world for a time. I know that is what I did.  Once I decided that I was staying in my League City home for a long time I decided to make it as relaxing as possible.  Updating your home décor is a simple way to make this happen and stay with what’s in.  So what home changes are coming in 2015?

It’s All About Color

Simply repainting a room or exterior can make a dramatic and refreshing difference for your space. 2015 is the year of lavender, plum, tan, beige, and blue, with a dash of green. Expect to see variations of these colors dressing new homes.  Add wall art and other floor items for a completely new look. If you are not sure how it will look you can even take photos and pay a virtual staging company to change wall colors to see how it looks.  They can also add furniture or even change out walls and window coverings for a bigger change.

Transform Your Outdoor Living Space

If you have the yard space you can add a patio (covered or not), pergola, outdoor kitchen, pond, waterfall, and even a pool.  While these can get pricey it is a good way to bring the vacation feel home. Even if your yard is smaller a patio and waterfall can be inviting and help you relax after a long day.

Bring The Outdoors Inside

The latest buzz is about colors and furniture that create an airy atmosphere within the home and give the home a more outdoor feel. Using pastel colors, soft textures on furniture and pillows and eye-catching pictures can create a very pleasing atmosphere. Bringing in plants (if you can keep them alive unlike me) can  add a natural touch and improve air quality as well.

Consider the Latest Home Trends

2015 is going to bring some changes in home decorating trends.  As a real estate agent I have seen firsthand how changes in staging, wall colors, and landscaping can make all the difference.  Whether you’re looking to sell your home or you just want to keep it current, there are many options.  If you are looking to sell your home in the Greater Clear Lake or Pearland areas in the coming year and would like advice on preparing it to sell or even full blown staging, contact me and I will be happy to help.
